Trevor Glampventures is an illustrative project that is centred around designing a character or mascot. I decided to make this character a brand mascot for a fictional international glamping agency. Glamping (a portmanteau of ‘glamorous’ and ‘camping’ is a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.

Trevor (a pun on the world ‘travel’) the oriole is a migratory bird. Before I could put him in different settings, I had to stylise him. On the right are my exploratory studies, featuring different shapes, forms and proportions a bird’s anatomy could be varied into. Finally, Trevor was stylised to take on a triangular form which made him mimic that of a tent.

Trevor was then put into different environments; the key was to juxtapose a high-risk environment with him still being able to have fun and in comfort. This would relate to what the glamping agency would like to promote: trust while travelling anywhere if customers used their glamping services.

For these illustrations, I used mainly watercolour brushes for digital painting to create a more organic look following the theme of nature. Several compositional drafts were done in order to achieve the final look.
